Einstein, Doc's dog, is the first to travel through time. When Doc is about to go through time, the Libyans turn up and kill Doc. Marty hops into the DeLorean and speeds off. He floors it and accidently goes through time to 1955! Marty is now stuck here because he has no plutonium!
Marty goes into town and finds his Dad, George McFly, in the local milkbar. Marty leaves him for a second to get Doc's phone number and when he returns George is gone! He later finds him perving on his Mum, Lorraine Baines! George falls out of a tree and is about to get hit by Lorraines Dad! Marty saves him, but gets hit instead! Now we have our first MAJOR PARADOX (As Doc would say). George will never meet Lorraine and they will never fall in love. This means no Marty McFly! Lorraine is now in love with Marty!
So Marty finds Doc. They figure out that to get the power that they need, only lightning will get Marty home. Luckily they know where it will strike, the clocktower! So now Marty has to get his parents together and still manage to get home!
Marty has one week to do this. He goes to his school and finds out that there will be a dance, which will be on the same night that lightning strikes the clocktower. So he has to convince George that Lorraine will go with him. George has no self-confidence, so he doesn't ask her. Marty and George come up with a plan. Marty will be in the car with Lorraine. He will be kissing her and George will come in and save the day. He will say "Hey you get your damn hands off her!" Marty also writes a letter to Doc, to say that he will be shot.
The night arrives and everything is going okay. But of course things don't always go to plan...
Marty is in the car with his Mum and then Biff comes and belts up Marty. Biff's Gang lock Marty in the boot of a car. Marty is rescued by a band member who is playing at the dance. When the guitarist breaks open the boot he hurts his hand. Marty runs off to see his dad.
George arrives at the car. He says "Hey you get your damn hands off oohh (instead of the planned her)!" Instead of Marty it's Biff in the car. Biff is about to break is arm. Biff is laughing when he knocks over Lorraine. George suprises Biff and uppercuts him and knocks him out cold. Marty arrives to see it.
The dance is now off. The guitarist can't play, so now his parents will never kiss, have kids and he's history. So Marty fills in and plays Johnny B Good. Marty goes and finds Doc.
They have set up everything. Disaster strikes when a tree falls onto the power chord! Doc climbs the clocktower to fix it. Marty goes to the DeLorean but it won't start! Doc is holding on for life off the clocktower and eventually fixes it, after a couple of stuff ups and having a go at a flying fox! He fixes it at the precise moment that the lightning strikes!
Marty get's into the DeLorean and floors it. The electricity goes through some poles and into the flux capacitor, sending Marty to 1985. He runs up the street very happy! Marty is going to try to help Doc! He arrives too late. He arrives to see Doc get killed again. He goes over to him and finds that he was wearing a bullet proof vest! He read Marty's letter.
Marty goes home and finds his family totally different. His dad has become a famous author, his mum isn't an alcoholic, his brother and sister have good jobs and he has a brand new four-wheel-drive! Just as he is about to leave with Jennifer, Doc arrives and says that they have to go to the future!
